GIMP vs PSE?
Hi I just wondered if anyone who has used both extensively has any preference? Obviously GIMP will be the main choice for most people on here, but I have a scaled down version of PSE but I use GIMP as it has more features.

Are there any advantages to using PSE as opposed to GIMP for web editing using Dreamweaver?

GIMP is an ace piece of free software, no doubt about that but it can be a bit buggy at times, and has crashed a few times forcing me to remember to save my work regularly.

Just wondered what the general consensus was.

RE: GIMP vs PSE?
I've only used Gimp.
It runs really smoothly and never crashes for me. But then again, I heard gimp's not as stable on Windows.

RE: GIMP vs PSE?
I've had a few problems with it not responding and crashing occasionally, and this has forced me to get into the habit of saving regularly when I am doing big file stuff. Saying that though it works a hell of a lot smoother than it did on my old MacBook (2007) which is going to get throw at something with considerable force one day when I no longer need it for anything. Had nothing but problem after problem with it, totally regret ever switching to Mac and very happy to be back with Windows (7) again which is so far running like a peach.

I've never actually owned a Mac, unless you count the ones I used in high school back in 2010. I didn't mean to imply that it's a problem with Windows. I meant that, since Gimp is developed originally for Linux, new bugs can appear when it's ported to other systems.

But 70-80% of its users are on Windows...
Yeah but if Gimp was developed for Windows, they'd have to rename it Windows Image Manipulation ProgramConfused
