Gimp Tutorial: Add Logo to an Image
Hello again everyone,

It has been a few months since I last put up a tutorial, but the time has finally come once again! Check out how to put your logo in the bottom corner of your image! This is ideal for freelance photographers who want to put their logo on their photos before posting them online (i.e. to their websites or Facebook). It is also a good beginner tutorial for photo editing. Anyway, take a look (click the link below) and subscribe to my channel!

RE: Gimp Tutorial: Add Logo to an Image
Far too long 15 minutes (I did download so I could scrub through the video).
Aimed at professional photographers - that is questionable.

This is in Gimp 2.6 and there are several good reasons for using 2.6 (OSX was the reason here) but it will tend to confuse newcomers, who I am sure will gravitate to the latest version.

First 5 minutes, nothing to do with the subject matter, just general tweaking of an image.
Then the text tool - the 2.6 interface is going to cause confusion, but a minute on scrolling up and down choosing a font, not necessary.

Adding a drop shadow using an installed script. Remarked it was not standard but just another confusion.

Then the whole thing repeated for another 2 minutes while labouring over typing in a company name - not necessary. note the Gimp 2.8 text tool would do both lines in the same operation.

Saving - more export/save confusion although xcf was mentioned.

The final minute, again advertising, not necessary if you really mean it as a tutorial.

Get it down to about 8 minutes maximum and it will be better.

Nice photograph though.

edit
8 minutes is on the generous side for Gimp 2.8.10

RE: Gimp Tutorial: Add Logo to an Image
I appreciate your comment. You talk about how much time it took me to move through certain portions of this video as if it were amateurish or time wasting. But in fact I am simply taking time to explain to everyone why I am doing what I am doing and am also making sure I show how I got my edited image for all the viewers that still aren't sure how to edit their images. I have been doing this awhile and base my content off of the many requests and comments I get on my other videos. So, as an old timer and perhaps an experienced user you may not appreciate the length of time I take explaining things and making sure I don't move too fast. However, for newcomers or people who still aren't experts with the program I think the pace is just fine. The final minute of "advertising" is pretty standard stuff- asking people to subscribe to my channel if they liked the video or telling them about my other videos/design services I offer in case they are still lost.

I will add an annotation that will link viewers to the point in the video where I get started on the text portion if you don't want to watch the photo editing, and I have a link in the description section on how to get the Script-Fu plugin which you can download directly from the GIMP plug-in registry. I've used the plug-in in several other tutorials and everyone likes it. There's a reason I have 330,000 views and 3,600 subscribers Wink. Thanks for your input though.

Must admit none of the short cuts listed for the guides work on my system. LM17. Other short cuts work just not the guides, and the win key is already set by the OS to bring up the main menu.
Still, thanks for the link to the plugins and tools, I didn't know any of that stuff was available. I've been doing all the guide stuff by eye up till now.
