RE: Gimp or Photoshop
Honestly, I prefer Photoshop 'cause I've seen how amazing things you can make on it but for me, Photoshop is WAY too confusing so I use Gimp. Anyway, I think that Gimp are pretty much the same to Photoshop if you know what's what and really know how to use it. ;D

RE: Gimp or Photoshop
there is one truth: GIMP is not Photoshop - so stop wasting your time with comparisons
It is not a question of the tool. It is a question of the person that's using the tool.
There are more than one Pro's outside they using GIMP day by day. "Using" is the key. Anybody else can use a tool or thinking 'what would be with a another tool'. Sensless to ask which one produces the better results with any tool.

Photoshop and Gimp have the same potential. Photoshop is supposed to be easier to use, so you can reach that potential faster, but you have to learn the same very basic principles to use either efficiently.

The one thing Photoshop has for it right now is the ability to process image in high precision (more that 8-bit/Channel). But Gimp will catch up soon.

And that doesn't prevent anyone to do marvelous things with Gimp:

RE: Gimp or Photoshop
I like both pretty evenly Smile. Am learning how to use both for the heck of it, the more I know about both programs the better, imo.

RE: Gimp or Photoshop
Gimp please. I am just learning how to use Gimp along with my teenage daughter and we would appreciate all the help we can get. It is easy to find tutorials for Photoshop, not so easy for Gimp. My daughter is a talented artist but we just can't afford to buy Photoshop right now.

ah com'on, are you an editor in every magazine out there?
GIMP is a tool as PS is and every tool is only good as the person that hold's it in his hand.
There are more than one pro's out there using GIMP for their commercial work. Pat David, Rosie Hardy, Geraldine Lamanna and many more ...
