Question gimp not listed in windows 8.1 programs
Have used gimp for several years without problems (other than just learning difficulties). Recently had to purchase a new computer with windows 8 and then did the upgrade to 8.1. Then did my favorite program downloads which included Gimpshop 2.8.1 and it said it was successfully installed on my computer. Well, guess it decided to install it to a secret folder with which it would not share the location. I simply cannot find it anywhere & since it is not listed it cannot be uninstalled. The exe file is on the desktop and tried to run it again but it immediately said it was successfully installed...THANKS... any ideas GIMPIES? HELP HELP[/size]

RE: gimp not listed in windows 8.1 programs
GimpShop is not Gimp, it is is an abandoned "fork" of Gimp which is now being used to lure people to install malware on their computer. Check your computer with a malware cleaner, and install the real Gimp from a reputable source.

Try these two ways to uninstall gimpshop:
Way 1.
On the start menu metro screen, scroll to the screen and look for the gimpshop icon & right-click it, click uninstall.
Or
On the start menu start typing "gimp" or "gimpshop" to find the icon, then right-click it

Way 2. (longer)
In win 8.1, right-click on the start button on the bottom left of the screen on the desktop.
- Click "control panel"
Go / click on "Program and features" find the program, right-click it and click "uninstall"

Then install Gimp proper from gimp.org, or partha.com (partha if you run into problems)
.
.
***Really though, they should report & shutdown the gimpshop for malicious intent & possible property infringement.

I just recently updated to 8.1 & I do like it, the news app doesn't crash anymore (as in win8) and apps are faster. Snap is better and everything runs well so far. You might need to reinstall a couple apps like minesweeper, then update it. Minesweeper was stretched after the upgrade to 8.1 until i reintalled it.
