RE: Gimp Kickstarter? (helping GIMP to be much better)
Yes I do use it gimp, hence the reason I am here.

As I said before I am a apainter here are my works done in gimp :http://mythicsonofgod.deviantart.com/

I did mention what features I would like (did you even read my post?).The only reason I am not asking for specific features is becuase I don't want to impose my will and rather have the most popular be implemented. I mainy want GIMP to improve faster not to fulfill my own specific desires.

Improving =/= new features.
Improving =/= Overload of features...

To further quote you "see frylock picture" this is what people do for big corporates, they don't care, just buy on impulses.

You won't go into what specific features you want to see upgraded/added, do you even use Gimp?
NewUser Wrote:Yes, please somebody make me a plugin where i can drag layers in layer tab. Right now you can drag only 1layer at the time, and i need 3-10layers at the time(changing position in layers tab). I could donate 5bucks to this feature!
NewUser , even though the layer's window has the ability to group and move(as stated above), is stating a feature they would like to see. Thats what I'm talking about! Smile
This is why I said we should compile a list of commonly wanted features.
You could even request a plugin, if not found on the registry maybe someone can make it, thats the beauty of open-source!

Besides, going back to the "one servings" point, ks if for projects that have an end, like a film, a video game... gimp is a photo editing program which is an on going project with convience of additional plugins Smile users can create plugins because its not closed-source.

there is a possibility to support the developers on the projects-site - it call's "Donate-Button"
the button is allways there, 24 hours a day, all over the world.
How many users had "use" this button until today? Thousends of downloads and out there is no willing to spend 1$ or € for a new release.

So are KRITA and Openshot and yet they are still doing a crowdfunding in addition to donations.. Becuase they are getting much more money this way http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/4211...=category.

It's a no brainer that they get much more money with an actual tangible goals.Donations are random, inconsistent and aimless and I frankly I doubt donations are being enough to sustain a proyect like this without sacrificing TIME.

Even so the worst case scenario is that they don't earn as much money as they wanted.Again this is a non issue

I assume you already know about the crowdfunded project to develop new up/down samplers for GIMP: http://www.freedomsponsors.org/core/issu...arp-images which appears to have stalled.

Well I did all I could.The choice is theirs.

You make a good point. What would be the pros and cons of Kickstarting for GIMP or any Open Source software?

RE: Gimp Kickstarter? (helping GIMP to be much better)
Krita has a Kickstarter project so why not Gimp? I think a good project would be fixing the tablet issue. Tablet function problems seem to be widespread, at least in Windows. I would certainly contribute to fix the tablet problem.

(Sep 27, 2014 14:25)ofnuts Wrote:  The tablet problem isn't with Gimp but with the Windows ports of the graphics library Gimp uses: GTK2. This library is becoming obsolete so there is little incentive to fix quirks in its Windows port. Once the devs are finished with the new Gimp core (node editing and high bit depth in Gimp 2.10) they will rework the whole UI and move it to GTK3.

Thanks for that clarification. I had just started seriously trying to get the tablet working, and had no success. Nice to know it is on the radar for the future.
