gimp-edit-fill and "Other fill modes should not be used."
On the Script-Fu Procedure Browser the function gimp-edit-fill shows the following description:
Quote:This procedure fills the specified drawable with the fill mode. If the fill mode is foreground, the current foreground color is used. If the fill mode is background, the current background color is used. Other fill modes should not be used. This procedure only affects regions within a selection if there is a selection active. If you want to fill the whole drawable, regardless of the selection, use 'gimp-drawable-fill'.

What does "Other fill modes should not be used." mean? Other fill modes could crash Gimp? In particular, how can a script fill a selection with alpha color if it shouldn't do by this function?

RE: gimp-edit-fill and "Other fill modes should not be used."
I ignored gimp-edit-clear so my improvised fallback was to fill a layer mask.
Thank you.
