Gimp and Wacom Intuos
Hi,
Does using Gimp with a Wacom Intuos (the new type, that used to be bamboo) work in Windows 8.1 64 bit?

Thinking of getting one of these,

do you know if it work in Gimp together with Windows 8.1?

Many Thanks

Wacom has a less expensive range (the Bamboo tablets) that work just as well (AFAIK the main difference is a better pressure accuracy in the Intuos range, but is it worth the price)?

Don't get lured by the extra buttons/features. The simpler, the better, and unless you are used to draw on paper, a small tablet (around 15x10cm (6"x4") drawing area) works just as well.
Thank you for your helpful reply.
It is good to know that gimp is tested with Wacom graphic tablets.

The tablet I'm looking at is in the range that used to be called Bamboo.

The product info page says the working area is 6" x 3.7" I'm used to using an old tablet that had a working area of 6"x8" I hope I can get used to the smaller size, from the reviews I've seen it looks like these Wacom tablets are accurate.

I am hoping the Intuos Pen Tablet is going to be OK to use with Gimp 2.8 and Windows 8.1.

RE: Gimp and Wacom Intuos
I just bought that Intuos Pen and Touch, and have Gimp 2.8 and it all works well. But I use Kubuntu and Xubuntu. So if you have problems with Win 8.1, simply change to Xubuntu. Easy.
