GIMP adds delay to animated gif even though I told GIMP not to
Hi,

I told GIMP not to add a delay to my animated gif but GIMP did anyway and now my animated gif is really slow. How can I prevent GIMP from adding a delay to my animated gif?

Edit: How can I save my project without losing my layers so I can work on it again later?

1) try a small but acceptable delay anything smaller than 40ms (25 frame/s) is not necessary (and potentially evil)

2) save your image as XCF, the native Gimp format (saves everything, layers, selections, paths, channels...)

There's a 10ms delay between each frame - Despite the low number, the animated gif is really slow.

Edit: This is off-topic but how do I download the GIMP Animation Package?

Aw, yes, I didn't see that... a 640x480 animated GIF is a CPU killer whatever the delay.

Use the GAP to make an AVI out of it. One possible reliable source:

Oh, so I should resize it then? I actually wondered if that might be the problem. I have to resize it anyway because I want to turn it into an avatar.

Edit: I have another off-topic question. To make this animated gif, I opened the first frame then I opened every additional frame and layered them on the first individually. Is there a way to have GIMP do this automatically? Will the GIMP Animation Package do this?

Edit 2: I resized the image to 100x100 but it's still really slow.

Edit 3: Here is the animated gif. It isn't finished. I need to remove the black parts and some how reduce its size to 50kb - It's 277kb currently. Before I do that, however, I need to figure out why it's so slow. http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=5338335...i-yell.gif

I'll be frank: as an avatar it stinks. 280KB and no action. Avatars should have a short loop. And the characters get much too small. Better get some part with a close-up of a slap in the face.

If you use "File/Open as layers" (note the plural) you can select several/many files in the file dialog and they will all be loaded in one shot.

Actually OK for me performance-wise. Runs at standard speed without taking much CPU.

Yeah, it isn't great. I haven't actually seen Lucky Star yet and the avatar's only purpose is educational. Maybe this one is better for this purpose. http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=9410704...010000.gif

This avatar is a really small size (14.5kb) and is really fast. http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=9786396...a11ms8.gif

I want my avatar to be the same speed as the sequence is in the video. Maybe it's the amount of frames? I'll try finding a better sequence with very few frames and see if it helps.

Edit: I didn't even notice 'Open as layers...'. This has made this entire process a LOT easier. Thanks.

Edit 2: It would probably be more beneficial to create an avatar that already exist for practice so I can compare them. However, I use crunchyroll to watch anime and I don't believe there is a way to download the episodes, and I'm not sure how to capture video online.

Edit 3: I made another. I guess this is a little bit better. It'd be even better if I knew how to zoom in on Kagami though. http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=9232174...020000.gif
