Gimp 2.8 on windows7 64 bit is really laggy
I have been a long time user of Gimp 2.6 and was surprised that there was an update for it. I downloaded 2.8 under the belief that it was an improvement. While I find that there are much larger brush settings in 2.8 I was rather very unhappy with how laggy it scrolled. Is this really an improvement? I am contemplating on downgrading. Can any one tell me otherwise? Also I miss the old slider scrollings. They changed depending on what operating system you have and not this really boring grey look. thank you.

Well, it's not suposed to be this laggy. I use gimp 2.8 in Windows XP 64 and Ubuntu 64 and it's fine for me. I don't know if there's differences in performance in different OS... have you tried to run it on a linux live CD to see if it keeps happening?

No I have not. it could be an os problem. I really like my windows 7 and I have contemplated on switching to say Linux mint. But It has never been this laggy. I like the new features in 2.8 and that is one of the things keeping me from downgrading. Still the lag is not only with the scrolling. But the brushes too. My computer is a quad core also so it shouldn't be this bad. I tested this also on my aunts vista computer and the same issue. She also has a 64 bit. So here's hoping they come up with a fix for this soon.
