Question gif animation frame delay
I am trying to make a slideshow gif animation, varying the delay between the frames... see screenshot. I play the animation in gimp, it works perfectly. But when I save it as a gimp file, the resulting animation blips     by with no reference to the delays I specified. What???????

I have a little free time tonight to pop in for a couple threads, I'll be back one more time midday Friday & maybe friday night this week if I'm not too tired.

Anyways...
How did you create the individual delays between frames? Just typing them in the layer?

I usually specify a delay for all the frames in the .gif "save as animation" export as... options.
-Check the appropriate fields.

you should also look into the add-on animation plug-in for more control.

Open the GIF in Gimp, and check if the layers have the same delays as the ones you saved. Some very long or very short delays may be ignored by the browsers (and some browsers could ignore all specified delays if at least one frame is outside their allowed range). Google for particulars.

Thanks, folks...
iForStyle007 .... I did, yes, type in the delays. The thing is, I want to vary the delay from frame to frame.

ofnuts ... I got the gif open using "open as layers" , and saw that the delays had all changed to 110ms, except for one where it looks like I accidentally got the syntax right.. heh heh.. (2000 ms) or (50 ms) got changed to Frame (110ms) but the one I entered as (50ms) remained (50ms) .
So, syntax error, no space between the number and ms... Will try it out tomorrow,,, thanks

I like how you reply to our posts, very inventive!

Here's another thing you could test if the delays really stick, if after that it doesn't work
Try testing the delay by length of 1 to 4 seconds.
1 second = 1000 ms (milliseconds)
So for your first to second frame, make it 2 seconds (2000 ms)
then from the second to third frame, make it 3 seconds (3000 ms)
Then from the third to last(fourth) frame 4 seconds(4000 ms)
See if it sticks,
Good luck!
