Ghost image.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to why I suddenly seem to be getting a Ghost image after filling the head section of the above batman type symbol.
The head part is from a different path that I made with the path tool and is bigger than the body. I fill it with black and then scale it down on a different layer but the ghost outline is left on all layer - even transparency - after the selection has been cancelled. I know it's Halloween but I did notice the same problem last night so I'll rule out demonic possession of Wilbur.
I would be grateful for any help with this as it's a bit of a mystery to me.

RE: Ghost image.
Can't seem to insert quoted text at the moment keep getting this - [undefined=undefined] - strange.

The ghost image is still there after saving as an xcf, shutting down and restarting Gimp. And the path for the head section is not visible.
I can get ride of the outline by using the eraser but that's not really the solution I was looking for as I figure something must be wrong for this problem to have arisen.
Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Edit: I've just had a quick look at this problem and it would seem that if I use the path to create the selection, fill with black and scale down the ghost image is still there, but if I use the path fill with black then cancel the selection then reselect the image using the fuzzy select tool and then scale down the ghost image disappears.
I'm at a loss for this one.

RE: Ghost image.
Thanks guys scaling the selection first, before filling with colour, solves the problem.
Just as an extra note in case anyone else comes across this problem, before scaling the selection make sure that the selection button, next to transform in the tool options, is pressed. If not then the selection will disappear after scaling, it did for me and I wondered what the hell was happening.
