GEGL
Every time I try to use GEGL it soon freezes and is Not Responding etc, so eventually I have to close all the GIMP down without saving. It doesn't happen in every singe operation of GEGL (I'm still learning it), yet in great many like for instance the very first one (bilateral filter). It doesn't also react well to my dragging of the pointer-thing (e.g. in that same bilateral-filter box), kind of lingers too long, then makes huge leaps on the scale... Is it me, is it GIMP, or is it Windows (XP) as usual?
Kind regards

RE: GEGL
What I do is turn off the []preview" checkbox (then turn it back on after the below):

-Research well, the GEGL plugin you want to try (for the reason stated above)
Then test it on a small scale image 640x 480 or even less, to see how it reacts.

Increasing the tile cache sort of works but I got a similar hang on an 800 x 600 sized image.

Working from setting zero slowly up works too, but again make sure first you want to have the preview off just in case the default GEGL filter settings are too high.

Thank you!
I've just copy-pasted your reply into my documents in oder to work it through together with my GIMP open (and a few dictionaries too) afterwards. I'll start with the preview off and take it from there, phrase by phrase...

Thanks for the relief because if it was Windows it would have left me really distressed.

Goodluck ^^

One more thing, tile cache is a setting in Gimp that controls how much Ram Gimp uses(leave some for the system) if you choose to change it.

For the other terms most are gimp-related. By researching the GEGL plugin/filters I meant internet-searching(googling...) the one you want to use, a dictionary won't help you much on that I'm afraid.

Happy Gimping!

Thanks a lot! Yes, it was mainly the 'tile cache'... :-)
