Fuzzy Border
Why won't this simple program work? What am I missing?

1. Load up your chosen picture.
2. Choose your favorite selection tool.
3. Turn on feathering.
4. Make your selection where you want your border to be.
5. Add layer mast to your image layer.
6. Initialize layer mast to Selection.
7. Hide the selection with View/Show selection.
8. Make a new layer of white and move it below the image layer.

Thanks for the help!

RE: Fuzzy Border
I think you have not filled the selection in the layer mask.

image -> add white layer mask
make selection
invert selection
click on the layer mask to make it active (gets a border in the layer dialogue)
fill the selection with black
kill selection, add layer under etc etc.
ie the layer mask should be white (opaque) with black for transparency
