Frame.
I've been experimenting with one of the ideas I found in a book. This one is for a frame design.

I used a aluminium blend, the bevel filter and the drop shadow filter twice to make the frame look as if it is in front of the picture. Most of that seems to have worked okay. What I'm stuck with is the ragged edge around the outside of the frame, can't seem to find a way to get rid of it. Any hints?

The picture itself is not great, I'm still learning how to use my new camera, but I did run it through the curves filter after reading up on it in the recent addition to the tutorials section. I didn't apply any of the results as that another new tool I've yet to get a good hold on, it was well worth reading up on though.

Edit: Okay that's weird. When I look at the image in Gimp there's a ragged edge. Now that I've posted it..well it's gone. Scratch head time.

RE: Frame.
Nice one, ofnuts Cool thanks for all the tips.

I've had a lot more practice at bricklaying than photography but as I've got a week's holiday coming up I intend to get very snap happy. See if I can try to get a feel for the camera and what it can do. I've got plenty of ideas for scenes that I hope to manipulate, just need to get the art of picture taking to a higher level first.

I should have spent more time on the frame, I used the rectangle select tool and didn't make any measurements, but as it looked okay to my eye I thought I'd get away with it. Should've known better than that Big Grin no prisoners taken around here.

The grey thing sticking out of the wall is a straight edge. I would have saved some time if I'd moved it in the first place. Now I'll have to shift it with Gimp, which is cool as it something else I'll learn how to do.

The ragged edge only shows up when I open the image in gimp. It looks like the edge of a transparent layer but as its not there when I post the image it don't seem like a big deal.

Cheers.
