Exporting Multiple Layers Into Images (PNG, JPG, etc)
I have scoured the net for any Script-Fu or Batch to do this, and only find old code that is no longer good for gimp 2.6. For some absolutely insane reason (as far as I am concerned), gimp has failed time and time again (since their inception) to actually make it available to export multiple images at the same time. I literally have 300 layers, and for me to crop them all and save them as images would take an entire day.

Why hasn't this been made available? Is there any code or anything I can use to accomplish this task in Gimp 2.6? Photoshop allows it, and has since its inception! Why not Gimp? Is it that difficult to create? Are there really no plugins to do this? Why is this so elusive? Why has the community not spoken up in 10 years about this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Note: This has been resolved.

See the answer by Saulgoode. Since he is still a very active writer of Gimp scripts, his script must be rather up-to-date (or if you ask he will fix it).

Thank you, I looked at that one yesterday and it is not up to date. Just errors out in Gimp 2.6.

Error: > (sg-save-all-layers run-mode image drawable string toggle)
Error: eval: unbound variable: run-mode

Thanks I will give it a shot. Hopefully he still uses that email, the one he uses on that site Smile

I'm very puzzled by your error, as the script linked to on the registry page doesn't have the variable run-mode in it and runs perfectly.

Hmm.. This is how I am using the script.

Filters ==> Script-Fu ==> Console ==> Browse ==> search for and select "sg-save-all-layers.scm" ==> click APPLY ==> press ENTER

And then the error message shoots off. Am I going about this the wrong way? Here is a screenshot that shows what happens after clicking APPLY - http://i56.tinypic.com/nd5xkp.jpg

The "run-mode" is indeed there. Sad

You don't need to use the console to run scripts. You should find that the script has installed an entry in the menus - specifically File->Save all layers... Just select that and it will run.

Other people don't even know what the script console is for Smile

Yes so hopefully when they are racking their brains, they come up to this post first and figure it all out in one thread Shy

RE: Exporting Multiple Layers Into Images (PNG, JPG, etc)
There are a few scripts around. This is the one I use. http://registry.gimp.org/node/18440

I only exports to png format but at least it is python and so should work on a Mac.

If you download from above, it will come with a .txt suffix export_layers-0.6.py.txt remove the .txt so it is export_layers-0.6.py Put this in your plug-ins folder. Since you are using OSX you will have to make the file executable. It shows up bottom of the File menu as Export Layers

I have no idea. I do use a Mac & being a linux user no real intention of doing so.

A bit of a search and it looks like it should be something like

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Gimp/plug-ins

but then again it might not.

edit: I am still looking for some advice. I found this
http://howto.sviluppo-siti-web.com/conte...s-mac-os-x

I am sure someone in the know will be along soon.
