Export Multiple Layers
Exporting multiple layers is a feature that I use all the time, although it's kind of cumbersome because it has to be achieved with an add-on (I think this is the one that I use.)

A corollary feature that would be useful (I'm not sure if it exists at all, add-on or not) would be to apply one layer to all layers below. For instance, if you have a little bug that you want on the bottom right corner of many images that says, "Happy Mother's Day", you could just have it at one layer at the top, and then Merge that one layer repeatedly, with each of the layers below. (And then, of course, export them all!)

I do this all the time....but I usually use Faststone for this.

So, does anybody (a) know whether this sort of functionality will be included in 2.8 (I strongly believe that this would be in regular use) and/or (b) whether there is a build or an add-on which features these two related functions?

RE: Export Multiple Layers
My interleave-layers script (http://gimp-tools.sourceforge.net/) will copy/merge one layer over a stack of other layers.

Whoa. I guess I never looked at your profile, OfNuts, so I didn't know that you built all that stuff. That's pretty incredible.

Well, I'll definitely be putting this to use. Will it be compatible with 2.8, do you know, when that comes out? (When is it coming out, anyhow?)

2.8 is backward-compatible with 2.6, normally...

RE: Export Multiple Layers
Well that's good to hear (although I downloaded one of the 2.7's once and found there were many incompatabilities then, but maybe I did something wrong).

Thanks a lot, OfNuts, as always.

Do you know if there's a precise or estimated release date for 2.8?
