EPS File Extension OS X 10.9 using GhostScript
G'Day,

I'd like to start off by apologising for my complete lack of knowledge regarding anything computer related. I've spent the last 6 hours attempting to succeed in having Gimp open and export to .eps but it's all been for nought thus far!

I'm using a 2 month old Macbook Pro Core i5 (64-bit I believe) running Maverick 10.9.2 and the latest version of Gimp 2.8.10.

I've googled and googled for hours and hours and so far I've managed to install Homebrew (along with Xcode and Xquartz) and utilise it to install Ghostscript (9.14). All of that transpired problem free more or less however for the life of me I can't figure out how I'm to make Gimp and ghostscript talk to one another.

There are plenty of tutorials on the web outlining the step by step process that can make this happen on Windows but I've failed to find anything relating to the equivalent process for Mac.

Apparently a .dll file required to be copied from gimp's library file folder to the equivalent folder for ghostscript (or vice versa) and renamed so gimp is aware of where ghostscript is located?

Any assistance in conquering this seemingly insurmountable challenge would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Punter

Do not know much about OSX but a search shows this is quite a common problem with Mac users and no solution given.

One thing is sure, it will not be a windows .dll file Smile

Maybe a work-around

Do you have Inkscape installed? and if so can Inkscape open the eps file?

Can Gimp open a SVG file? if so use Inkscape as an intermediate converter.

Another thought
Maybe your OSX Gimp was compiled without eps support, I saw a bug report along those lines. Have you tried an alternative compilation. Lisanet or viceversa Partha.
