edited photos wont play on tv's
I have just spent the last week editing hundreds of photos (resizing and some brightness adjustments). I edited the photos and exported them as jpeg files to a folder on my computer.

Whilst these play fine on the computer it seems that any photo that has been edited will not play on any of my 3 televisions via usb stick.

Further investigation on google seems to suggest that edited files contain extra information that tv's are unable to cope with.

Does anyone have a solution to rectify this?

Steve

Hi,
When you export to jpg, in the Advanced Options try experimenting with the 'Progressive' checkbox, if that doesn't do it, then the 'Optimise' checkbox might be worth a try too.

fluffy is almost certainly right in saying it's probably progressive mode that is the problem:

It's a repeating theme since moving from GIMP 2.6 to 2.8 changed the default setting of the progressive flag:

I once found the same problem, hdmi player would not work, and progressive mode was the cause. Other instances as well, my printer, printing off a usb stick will not use progressive jpegs.

If you have lots to re-save then consider the Gimp plugin BIMP

You can add a folder of images, it will overwrite existing but IMHO never a good idea, so set an output folder. The Jpeg default is non-progressive but check anyway.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Yes, it was the progressive mode that was the problem. I am a bit frustrated that this is enabled by default causing me a sh*tload of extra work.
