Edge styled objects, how to?
Hi guys, i am a regular user of gimp, but i am not a experienced one, and now i encounter this problem. Well, it is not a problem, just i dunno the right method or the most effective method to make effects like this ->

I used the fill with a color gradient filter and some brightness values, but i cant get the result of the image (not even closer). Since this is the first time i try this, i dun have any idea how to make it right. I was thinking on using some posterize options as well, but since this is almost a random action, i prefer to follow some indications of some more expereinced users ^^

If by "effect" you mean applying a method using Gimp primitives, no. Painting the picture will of course do. Futhermore you questions is a it vague. What do you mean by "like this"?

I mean how to make that effect on the borders with the shadow under it, so the sensation of depth and reflection are present. I mean if there is some tricks or gimp tools i can use specifically for that, since painting over the image as it doesnt work (i dunno how to do it).

RE: Edge styled objects, how to?
It looks to me like you're basically trying to use a 2-D image program to get a rather complex set of 3-D effects that involve shading and lighting. I hope this isn't out of line or inappropriate for this forum, but I'd like to mention that the 3-D imaging programs Bryce and DAZ Studio4 are being given away for free for a limited time. Neither one is difficult to use or hard to learn (for fairly simple things, anyway, such as the shape you're showing above). Google them and take a look, keeping in mind that both programs can be used for other things besides making models of people.
