Double/Surrounded text
Not sure how to make/use text like the image shows i.e Teal text with a whitish shadow surrounding it.

Tried to use blur with text of a different color on multiple layers but it did not seem to work. Help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

RE: Double/Surrounded text
Looks easy:

1) create text on transparent background with Text tool (or start from decently cutout text)
2) get a selection on the text ("text to selection" on the text layer if you used the text tool)
3) grow the selection (I used 10px)
4) feather the selection (I used 5px)
5) add transparent layer below text layer
6) bucket-fill selection with white (or very clear gray)

If you use the text tool, for best results you may want to reduce both character and line spacing. The font also has some influence on the final look. On you sample image, the font is very narrow, so there is little space in the characters (for instance, the "U")

Thanks a lot. This helped a lot. Took me slightly longer than I should have but kind of got lost figuring out 'Path from Text'.

Do you have any suggestions on what fonts are good. I have the darnest time trying to figure out good fonts to use.

RE: Double/Surrounded text
No "path from text" in my sequence?

Fonts: matter of taste... for this specific style narrow fonts look better. But maybe using a standard font and scaling it horizontally does an acceptable job (if you do so, do not scale the text layer: use "path from text" (now you know where that is), scale the path (the Scale tool has a "Scale path" mode), then "path to selection" and bucket-fill the selection.
