RE: CUT
When you cut/paste, the pasted pixels are put in a special layer called a "floating selection". You either create a new layer from it (Layer/New layer) or merge it with the active layer (Layer/Anchor).

And since you are using using layers, pop out the Layers list (Ctrl-L)

And please use lowercase.

thanks i'll use lowcase if it does matter ?? but im not layer person yet and wanted to know how, if its possible, to move (or copy and paste) selected area on the same layer ... the layer anchor function is not highlighted as i tried ...basics step by step would do in my case .... but thanks anyway !

So you want to rearrange the layers?
If you want to move a selected area on a layer, I don't think it is possible.
Although you might not want to trust me on this, because I'm still learning myself. Wink

Still need some learning then:
- Ctrl-X (Edit/Cut)
- Ctrl-V (Edit/copy) (creates a floating selection and start the Move tool)
- Move selection around
- Ctrl-H (anchor)
