Cropping & Resizing
Hi, I am trying to get the hang of this program as I want to use the photos for printing and scrapbooking. I am wanting to crop a photo and then increase the size back up to a 6x4 photo. When I am doing this the photo is becoming slightly distorted. This has not been a problem so far but in this particular case it has a person in it and it is changing the shape of her face. Can anyone give me a solution to this problem.

Cheers

Kelly

RE: Cropping & Resizing
You need to set the aspect ratio for the crop tool to fixed and enter the ratio as 4:6 like this

2 little icons next to the setting to toggle between portrait or landscape.

You do not have to scale anything. Scaling will to a greater or lesser extent distort an image. Instead of inches or millimetres, it is pixels that count.
When you come to print, your printer software will do the scaling for you.
In these screenshots, the paper size is set to 4" x 6"

The image is sized to fill the paper (with a small margin if you want it) The image here is quite large, and has been sized to 457 ppi (pixels/per in). Anything over 300 ppi should give a good quality print. Phone cameras excepted Wink.
