Cropping Guides
I would like to know how to create my own cropping guides in GIMP, is this possible? I have googled a bit, but can't find anything.

Just FYI for some - the guide shows a central cross, or a thirds, or a golden thirds, over the selection that is being cropped.

I would like to create 2 different passport ones, adhering to the rules of the 2 countries I am a citizen of. With 5 in the family, and 2 passports each, it comes up often.....

RE: Cropping Guides
You can't create dynamic crop guides that show up with the crop tool.

What you can do is create a blank image and put fixed guides in it. Then when you want to crop a picture by the book, measure the distance between two standard place (ears? pupils?) in your picture, deduce a scaling factor for the image with guides, scale it (this scales the guides positions as well), import you image as a layer, move it under the guides until in position, and crop.
