Crop instead of Scale
Hello. I keep trying to scale an image down in GIMP but it just crops the image instead. What am I supposed to do?

RE: Crop instead of Scale
"Image/Sclae image" will rescale the whole image (all layers, selection channels, path...).

If you want to be picky:

- make sure that that your are using the best interpolation algorithm (Sinc/Lanczos) (you can set it here, bt you can also set it once for all for all the transforms where such an algorithm is used in "Edit/Preferences" -> "Tool options"

- If you scale down significantly (1.5x or more), and even it looks counter-intuitive, do a pre-blur of your image ("Filter/Blur/Gaussian blur", using as many pixels as you are scaling down). This will prevent strange things to happen (moire effects, aliasing/scaling on diagonals)
