Copy existing image to a new layer
I have a few doubts. I am a newbie to GIMP.
I have a few doubts.


- Copy existing image to a new layer
- Add text foo
- Merge these two layers into one layer
- Save this image

And the question is?

Btw, you don't need to copy the image to a new layer (Layer/New from visible), and you don't need to merge before saving (this happens automatically when you export to a file format that doesn't support layers).
