Concering GAP and framerate
hey there. i recently made two animated gifs with GAP.

here they are:

http://i.imgur.com/GGGIO.gif

http://i.imgur.com/lpVFo.gif

as you can tell, the first gif runs at full speed, but the second one is slowed down.

i used the same step to make each gif. i do believe, however, that one difference was that the slow gif had the message "inserting pauses to stop creation of a cpu-eating gif"(or whatever it is)

so i guess what im asking is, how can i avoid GAP automatically inserting pauses?

RE: Concering GAP and framerate
If I reload your GIF, its frames have a 10ms delay, so the delay isn't really added by Gimp. However all browsers protect themselves against CPU-hogging animated GIFs and start playing tricks when the delay is smaller that 25ms (often using a default delay of 100ms frame).

In practice there is no reason to go below 30ms/frame (this is already 33fps, and cinema is only at 24-25fps). If you want your animation to run faster, keep the standard 25fps (40ms/frame) and reduce the number of frames (this will also reduce the file size)

ive tried setting the delay to differen things but it doesnt change anything, the second gif is still slow.

any idea what i might have done differently in the two gifs? why is one so much faster?

also, is there a good tutorial for making .gifs with gap? i need to figure out how to get maximum qualit and framerate

RE: Concering GAP and framerate
Did you remove the timings in all frame and specified a decent default timing when generating the animation?

By hand in the Layers dialog, unless you find a script to do it.
