Colors/Hue/Saturation Tool won't work
When I click on Colors> Hue/Saturation> the Adjust Hue/ Lightness/ Saturation menu window opens. I want to adjust the hue, lightness and saturation of a file I'm working on, but when I use the tools on this menu, no changes are visible on the image. For example, I highlighted the M (Magenta) button, and moved the Hue slider button, but nothing happens to the image.

I am using Windows Vista operating system and I've made sure I have appropriate permissions including GIMP program files, the Desktop shortcut icon, the C:Users\Dawna\.gimp-2.6 folder and the C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\gtk-2.0 folder. I am running the program as Administrator. I uninstalled and reinstalled the GIMP 2.6.11 program, but this didn't solve the problem.

Can you offer a solution to the problem? I am able to use regedit to remedy this if that's necessary whereas someone could possibly have made some changes I'm unaware of that might be the cause. I don't know specifically where to look among all the GIMP folders on my computer for the exact file(s) that pertains to the malfunctioning tool in order to check to see if there's a problem there.

Any help you can give me is very much appreciated.

Thank you ofnuts for your reply. Reading over my original post, it seems to be the writing of a lucid mind, but I guess I was in a mental fog when I wrote it. It would have been simple enough for me to have tried increasing the overlap as a possible fix, but this didn't come to mind.

The image I'm working with is a blue monochromatic "underpainting" on a white background, and I wanted to push the blue more toward violet. Instead of clicking on the Blue button and adjusting the hue, etc., I clicked on the Magenta with the thought of introducing it into the color of the underpainting.

Anyway, I was successful at changing the color by following your advice.
