Color trouble

Color trouble
I'm trying to make a image in gimp (for a project) and i using a base image but when i select a specific color it uses another color that the base image had originially with my pencil, bucket or air brush. how do i fix it.

I assume your image is a GIF (or perhaps an indexed-color PNG). Same question recently asked here.
