Checkerboard transparency toggle
Is there a simple way to toggle the checkerboard transparency on and off so I can see how the image will actually look while I'm editing/creating it?

RE: Checkerboard transparency toggle
You are probably better off adding a layer of the required colour to the bottom of your layer stack that you can then toggle the visibility of.

You can also use Edit>Preferences-->Image windows>Appearance and change the "Canvas padding mode" to some custom color.

But this is only useful in very specific cases, the default checkerboard pattern is better to spot problems (unwanted partial transparency, etc....).
