Changing color in a texture
Hi,

I'd like to change the picture here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Friend..._Koala.JPG

So that the fur of the animal looks purple/mauve (in particular the gray part, it would be best if the white part didn't change).

I haven't found a way to do this, even approximately (which would be enough), in a textured surface. Methods I've seen changing the hue saturation seem to work when working with primary colors, but I can't get it to work with a gray color.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Raph

The simplest method is to add a transparent layer over it, put that layer in "overlay" mode (selector at top of Layers list) and paint on it in purple. This will be more effective on the gray parts, but the white still gets some color.

Thank you! I managed to obtain a fairly decent result with the way you suggested: Image

Hmm. Looks like you used "screen" mode instead of "overlay". In "Overlay" the dark parts (claws, eyes, nose) would remain black.

Maybe I did. I'm using a french locale, so I had to figure out which one it was. I'll try with other options.

Overlay in French is "Superposition".
