CD Template
I was looking through some of the templates and found one for CD covers. But when I load it up it is a square and not circle. Can anyone tell me about this template? I am working on a new CD and would like ot give it a go doing the artwork myself. Thanks

That template is for the card insert into a CD jewel box. If you look around (libre/openoffice) there are similar for DVD boxes.

For a CD/DVD disk attached the vital dimemensions

.xcf  CD_Face.xcf (Size: 122.44 KB / Downloads: 1315)

and the template I use.

.xcf  blank_dvd.xcf (Size: 59.46 KB / Downloads: 899)

This is sized for 300 ppi printing. It has a layer mask, but to be honest it is usually easier to turn this off and cut off the excess before printing. Turn the circles off as well.
The printers I use come with CD/DVD printing software which crops the inner and outer circles anyway. If you are thinking of printing on adhesive labels - not a good idea. There are templates for this as well - repeat, not a good idea.

Thanks. Great. I will be printing directly to printable CD's. I am using someone elses computer and they do not have the saoftware to the printer they have. I am sure it works ok though. I just need 5 cd's to send off to CD Baby.

Thanks again.

RE: CD Template
Never come across CDBaby before.

there are a load of templates here.
http://duplication.cdbaby.com/Quoter/Templates.aspx
the disk templates are here
http://duplication.cdbaby.com/templates/.../UD100.zip

Then the first snag. There is a PS .psd file but it is CMYK & no good for Gimp and a weird profile to boot.

There is also an equivalent .ai file that opens in InkScape. Looks like this.

It is 300 dpi but is 2 layers - the one shown and the art-work as a layer underneath.
Looks like (can-of-worms) they want cmyk

My advice, ask them what format is acceptable.
