Can see bottom layer thru top layer image
I apologize if something similar is already out there but I did try and search.

I'm putting some images together and when I put one layer on top of the other, the bottom image bleeds thru. The top layer shows 100% opacity but still see thru it.

I've been working at removing the white background from the image and replacing it with an alpha channel. What can I do to make the top image solid? Thanks

RE: Can see bottom layer thru top layer image
A lot depends on the image.
You could try Layer -> Transparency -> Threshold Alpha
[Image: owMwBIx.jpg]
left hand side has some semi-transparent blue left over from a colour selection & cut.

You could also try the entry above that 'Semi-Fatten' which uses the current background colour. Careful what colour you use Wink
but
Probably there is a more fundamental problem - the method you chose to remove the background.

I see what you mean. I used some instructions I found on the web to remove the white background from the image. Your suggestions did make the image more solid but uncovered "holes" where the process I used may have stripped out more than I wanted. I'm going to start over and try the intelligent scissors or foreground select again. Hopefully I will have better luck this time around. Really frustrating. Thanks!

If you decide to use the Intelligent scissors, try the option:

[]Interactive boundary, (more info at the bottom of this page: http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-tool-iscissors.html )

it helps a lot; as you can hold and drag to get the right line, for more detail make shorter clicks, you can adjust the points before you finalize the selection.

Actually got the foreground tool to work for me this time and the transparency is gone. This is the first time I've ever EVER worked with any kind of design product and it is a struggle so far. I'm trying my hand at paths now hoping to bend some text. The only curve I'm getting right now is my learning one!! Thanks guys! J
