If you can import / drag drop the .PSD into Gimp.

Try clicking the Text text tool & clicking on the font/text on the .PSD

Then look at the tool options.

If that doesn't work, there are online text recognition softwares (maybe some downloadable ones not sure)
- where you can upload a picture of the font and it will analyze it to the best match.

Other online sites will narrow down your search through a series of discriptive questions, comparing / contrasting common font shapes.

For starters, save a backup copy, cropped to just the text of your font in the .PSD file as a .JPEG(small size but clear enough) or .PNG(highest compression 9) then upload it online to this site: http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

Then go from there if it doesn't work.

Gimp imports PS text layers as a bitmap graphic, so the only graphical way is to send a clip of the text off to one of the font identifying sites such as DaFont.

Non-graphical ways.

Try opening up the .psd file in a hex editor and look for the font name. You might find a 'marker' that you can use as a search term.

This is an old PS7 file, don't know what the newer ones look like.

Imgur seems very flakey at the moment,

Just found a PS6 file and as usual PS does not make anything easy with their style sheets and effects, but some where in the file there are font names which should give some idea what was used.
