Brushes?

Brushes?
I am just wondering if you all install ALL the brushes you find, or just install them as needed? I find it slows the program down tremendously so I don't install most of the brushes until needed.

I also thought we could share resources on finding FREE or inexpensive brushes.

RE: Brushes?
Most of the brushes I use I get from Deviant Art. It's got hundreds of brushes, especially when you remember that you can use Photoshop brushes as well.

I keep changing OS's enough that I've never built up a collection big enough to slow things down - how many do you have installed?

RE: Brushes?
I once downloaded a lot of brushes and installed them all right away. And yes, my GIMP copy feels heavy when starting up, but I haven't noticed any serious slow downs when running the program itself.

RE: Brushes?
I thought I heard somewhere that photoshop brushes were NOT compatible with Gimp. Are they really compatible???? WOW!!! That is great. Do instal them as you would any brush?

RE: Brushes?
I don't know if all Photoshop brushes are compatible with GIMP, but what's great, a lot of them are. I did the download of brushes over at http://qbrushes.net/

Add them as usual, place in GIMP's brush folder.

RE: Brushes?
I prefer to bulk install gimp brushes, check them out, and then delete those that I won't need.

I have installed about 70, and I notice no lag in GIMP, other than in startup.
