Brush size and grid question

Brush size and grid question
I may be an idiot, but I can't seem to figure this out. I'm working on pixel art for a game I'm making and for some reason the grid and brush sizes do not match.

For example: I have to use a 12 brush for a 9 by 9 grid. And some grid sizes, I can't get the brush to match at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is more dithering when using the paintbrush.

If you want a more accurate representation (sharper) brush size for pixel work, try using the pencil tool. (Pencil) instead.


Then adjust the size under "Tool Options"

Thanks for the quick reply!

Though I guess I should have been more specific. I'm using the pencil tool. Using the pixel brush. I just tested it with a size 4 pencil and a size 4 grid. The problem is, the pencil drew a square that is smaller than my grid.

I am not sure whether this brush is already part of the standard Gimp instllation...
Try using the 'Solid Square' brush, setting the brush size to the size you want.

If you don't already have it, download and place in your brushes folder.

Ok, I fixed it. I'm not around Internet at the moment and don't have a tethering plan, so I couldn't download the brush you posted.

I did make my own brush that is 1x1, with that, it fits the grid pixel perfect. Thanks for your suggestion though.
