Brush Size
Hi,

I am having a bit of trouble with brush sizes compared to when I used photoshop. Using photoshop I could just click on a new brush size and shape as I was drawing. In GIMP it looks like one has to manipulate the size every time. And if you're to say use the eraser tool, it has to be manipulated to a desired size and then all over again to go back to drawing. Is there a way to save brush sizes and then just merely click to continue on? Thanks.

RE: Brush Size
At the bottom of the layers dock you'll find a box full of brushes. If you want to save your current brush settings for later use, click the 'create a new brush' (blank paper icon) at the very bottom of layer dock. Hope that answered your question. Smile

RE: Brush Size
Gimp is not PS and works in different ways. Best forget PS or go back to using it.

The basic tools for resizing the brush
[Image: QYNDpkp.jpg]

Had to draw these in but depending on where the cursor is in the brush size slider determines the rate-of-change.
The Scroll wheel on a mouse will also work here.
The yellow icon resets to the brush default size.

Hot keys
The well known ones are the square brackets ] [ which decrease / increase by 1
Not so well known are the shift-] and shift-[ which increase by 10 units and the backslash \ which sets any brush to a default value (20 here)
These you will probably have to set up in the keyboard shortcuts editor because "shift-[" the default setting is of course a curly bracket { (well it is here)

If you want something more interactive then this recent python plugin
Drag mouse to resize brush http://registry.gimp.org/node/27608
Pop this in your plug-ins folder and read the info on the web page. You need to set a hot-key, same place as that last screenshot.

but to answer your question, no way to keep a brush size when swapping between brushes other than the yellow reset to default size.
