Best software for creating high quality business cards
I just started using GIMP to try to design a business card that is of acceptable quality for printing. The company that's going to do the printing says they need to be 300 dpi or better. I know nothing about this. Can someone tell me what filetype would be best for that purpose and what software I need to create a design quickly and easily?

Inkscape. But if you know nothing about DPI, hiring someone light be a good idea, because you'll have to first get an understanding of the concepts behind all software of this kind.
