Best results with DDS image format
I'm a bit confused as to which parameters produce the best results when using DDS. I'm also unsure what most of the parameters do.

For example what is the difference between BC3/DXT5, BC3n/DXT5n, Alpha Exponent (DXT5), YCoCg and YCoCg Scaled?

When not using a compression how does the "Format" field apply? I know that most of them are RGB values but would like some clarification.

What do the mipmap filters do? I've looked up Nearest, Bicubic, Bilinear and Lanczos interpolation on Wikipedia, but still confused as to which filter is best for which situation and how to differ in operation.

When using dithering is that to make 16bit color images look better in 32bit colorspace or is this a different form of dithering used here?
