Batch Merge Layer Group
Hi folks. My first post on her e- loving GIMP, but now getting down to the brass tacs!

Have a number of Layer Groups like such:

I need some way to batch process merging layer groups. At the moment having to right click on each group to flatten, then rinse and repeat. The number of sub-groups is going to be huge, so doing this by hand isn't going to be possible.

Browsed through the plugins repository. Surprisingly, could find anything to do this - thought it would be a common need. unfortunately, GIMP scripting beyond me. Couldn't find any way to set up macros either.

On WIndows 8. Using latest GIMP.

Any help appreciated!

RE: Batch Merge Layer Group
You could try this one http://registry.gimp.org/node/26479 a quick test and it seems to work.

That is one image at a time.

No macros in Gimp. There are a couple of batch plug-ins, the newer one, BIMP not looking promising for that operation, does not seem to pick up that script.

RE: Batch Merge Layer Group
Thanks rich, but that doesn't seem to be what I'm after. This seems to flatten all files under all the top-level Groups onto one layer per group. That is - if I do this on my image - I get 7 layers being the merge of all the groups and sub-groups.

As above, I need something to process each "sub-group" recursively, one after another. Also tried assigning a hot-key to Merge Layer Group which helped a little, but still have to do "hotkey>down>hotkey>down"

Would post over in the plugins repository, but couldn't find a way to register there!

Thanks anyway.

RE: Batch Merge Layer Group
Sorry, do not understand that. you mean your intention is to end up with a single layer??

Gimp plugin registry suffered badly from spam recently and registration was suspended.

RE: Batch Merge Layer Group
Ah... the joys of explanation...

Below is pic demonstrating desired result. Top 3 layers demonstrate what I'm after - these subgroups flattened into a layer. Got these by right click on the original layer group > 'Merge Layer Group' The ones below that are 'unprocessed' ones. I am needing something to progress through each layer group under 'Developers' to 'Merge Layer Group' - automated.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

I'm not sure ofnuts - but please don't think I was calling you thick.

Yes - 1st level groups should be left alone. Could go into the reasons why, if needed, but probably superfluous to considerations.

Hope this helps to clarify further. Thanks for your replies.
