Anti-Erase help!
hey! I was wondering if someone could help me out?

so GIMP glitched out on me and I had to find my layer by anti-erasing with the eraser tool,
but I've been drawing on a previously transparent layer, and suddenly it turned black.

Unfortunately the lines I've been using are also black, so I can't recover them without taking out the lines. Is there a way to anti-erase to a white background?

Please help!

RE: Anti-Erase help!
Sure, do you know which image sharing site accepts .xcf files?

RE: Anti-Erase help!
I've uploaded the .xcf to sendspace.com (my apologies, the image file is very large)

here is the link to download: http://www.sendspace.com/file/b8ynut

RE: Anti-Erase help!
You probably should've used Undo back when GIMP "glitched" on you.

Transparent layers are a combination of the usual RGB (color) channels and an alpha channel (transparency). The color channels are initialized to black. So, a new transparent layer is actually black (as Color Picker tool would tell you). If you draw with black on such layer, it only changes transparency, but the color doesn't change. All Anti-Erase can do is to make your layer less transparent, but in your case it will only reveal the black, as the entire layer was actually black from the beginning.

RE: Anti-Erase help!
well I know that I can recover the images, but my problem is the black background. If I try to transfer those images over to the base image which contains white, that black covers it. What I want is to take those images from "lineart" and have the black background be transparent again.

Unfortunately whenever I try to take out the black background, it takes the lines (which are black) as well. Is there any way to save the lines?

RE: Anti-Erase help!
I'm still not getting the lines--am I doing something wrong?

After fully anti-erasing the layer, I used the color select tool to click on black, shrunk, feathered, and deleted. But I'm still missing the lines.
