Another Nubee
Hello all, and hope I found another friendly site. I've been using GIMP somewhat regularly for about six months. When I looking for another way to do some animation for a PPT slideshow I stumbled onto gimp, dl'd it, and didn't know the first thing about how to use it's functions. After a few months of thinking of how it could be nice to use it (based on descriptions of the program) I searched the web. So thanks to the many generous people that have spent the time to do tutorials I finally got out of the starting gate and have made some good progress since. Tho I still refer back to several tut's, and search for some new I've found myself thinking this might be a good place to find help as well as share what little knowledge I've gained with other gimp users.
Peace,
D Man 1

RE: Another Nubee
Not new to editing photos and textures and skins for games.
Embarresed to say I've always use paint.net and only dabbeled with Gimp.
Used linux for years. just didn't want to learn another program. But a little contest came up
and been watching some photoshop tutorials, just sparked my interest with stuff I never new you could do, But I can't afford photoshop, nor would I buy it if I could. So I decided a couple weeks ago to get serious with gimp. Having lots of fun and enjoy doing things much more professional than paint.net ever offered me to be able to do.

No worries rosie, there are a few other Linux users on this forum who I'm sure can help you when they can. Welcome to the forums ^_^. For the paint.net thing, sometimes it takes a little while to get use to/practice with new programs, just hang in there, you'll be gimping in no time. Check out the beginner section & tutorials for some cool stuff.

Search the forums with the link on the top right of the forums(very top right, next to "members list") if you have a problem running Gimp. If you can't find similar problems, feel free to ask us.

I've tested gimp in xp through w8(current) but I can troubleshoot other OS somewhat depending on the issue.

@D man 1 : A very welcome to you too if I didn't formerly greet you Smile

Thanks IFor Style,
My recent mission is to spend less time when working with animation and have watched the AnimStack tut's but get a little lost along the way with there not being any verbage. I just connected another monitor to possibly follow along (do as shown) sorta but any other tutorials I could watch would be very helpful.
Again, thank you for the welcomd
