Aliasing Text
Hi,

I'm new here, so hope I'm posting in the right place.

I'm having some problems with text aliasing and looking for some help. I have created text and then used the curve bend effect to give the text the desired curved look I want (a perfectly straight upper line and curved lower line, like Indiana Jones type logo/text). I have then added two further layers to this text using alpha to selection - one layer is a black outline around text, the other is layer to give effect of drop shadow. The problem I have is that the text is very clearly aliasing and spoiling look. Does anyone have any tips/ideas how to correct this?

I think I know that it is the the curve bend effect that is enhancing the aliasing, but I can't get the desired Indiana Jones style curve text without this.

Attached is an example.

Very grateful for any help.

Thanks

RE: Aliasing Text
This is a nasty by-product transforming text in Gimp. Consider using the complimentary program Inkscape (vector based)
There maybe a way to fix it in Gimp (blurring, then sharpening) but its somewhat cumbersome & maybe not worth it.

Inkscape it better suited for 2D-logo / text shaping type of work. Then if you want to adjust colors or add blurs or any filters / effects that won't transform the text, import it into Gimp after.

Even scaling with the scale tool in Gimp can produce jagged edges on font, so take care when you make transformations to 2D art or text in Gimp.

RE: Aliasing Text
What you have to do is produce the curved text directly, for instance with this script.

RE: Aliasing Text
Thanks for the response. I tried blurring and sharpening, but it wasn't successful.Unfortunately. I've never used Inkscape before, although am aware, but will have a look at it.

RE: Aliasing Text
Thanks for response. This script looks like it may well do the job. I'll download and see if it works later. Thanks again.
