Aircraft maneuvers paths
Anybody has an idea if there is an "easy" way for drawing aircraft maneuvers paths like in the examples below (main image, not the inset):

Not sure about easy. Bound to be better ways of doing this, at first I thought Inkscape might be easier than Gimp but maybe not.

First thoughts, but packing in for the day, so a video instead of lots of notes. It should give you enough pointers to get started.

I would do the whole thing in Inkscape. But you could use both inkscape and Gimp if needed.
Create one curve say for the "port wing". When it looks nice, copy it and move it to make the starboard wing curve. Change only the nodes that are not the same, so that they look parallel.
Finally use the "fill" in inkscape, or first import the curves into Gimp and Fill it there.

Thanks guys, will try the method as shown by rich2005 in YT and I'll have a look at Inkscape.

I just read a post recommending the Path Blend Script.
Create a flat shadow or long shadow
So I decided to try this this script, in this application.
I downloaded the script and this was the first time I used it.
Here's what I got:
