Adding fill light
I am very new to GIMP after using PICASA for years. I have a picture with faces, but the faces are heavily shadowed. In Picasa I would add a little fill light, but can't seem to see how to do it in GIMP 2.8. Is there a way??

RE: Adding fill light
Use the "Levels" tool and move the middle handle to the left, possibly after making a proper selection on t he face, with some feathering (you can also duplicate the layer.

For local shadow removal, you can also use the "dodge/burn" tool in "dodge" mode.
