ACK!
Okay, a couple weeks ago I got an email from Gimpusers or something saying Gimp 2.8.12 was stable with a link if I wanted to download it.

Well, I did.

What a mistake that turned out to be!

Because a few days later I got another email saying 2.8.12 was buggy but they fixed it and I should download 2.8.14.

Well, 2.8.14 has--how do I put this--issues.

For me the most noticeable one is that Control-Z doesn't work. Since I make the occasional mistake , life without Ctrl-Z IS A LIVING HELL!!!

Ack!

Now I want to go back to 2.8.10 but I can't find a windows version. What I see at Gimp.org and Source Forge is tar.bz and I think that's Linux, no?

So where can I go to get 2.8.10 for windows?
Thanks.

RE: ACK!
For Gimp 2.8.10 any one (provided they are working) listed here
http://gimpforums.com/thread-gimp-server...1#pid26881
You should always try one near to your geographical location, that is the purpose of a mirror site.
example:
http://gimp.parentingamerica.com/gimp/v2.8/windows/
which will get you to
http://gimp.parentingamerica.com/gimp/v2...-setup.exe

Gimp 2.8.14
Because of gimp.org server changes you will not get Gimp 2.8.14 except on a few mirrors

Gimp 2.8.12 was broken, so was the the replacement 2.8.14 first release.

You need the 'fixed' version. which from gimp.org is
http://download.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.8/w...etup-1.exe note the setup-1

edit: Win7 32 VM + Gimp 2.8.14 and ctrl-z is working for me.
but If you are happier with Gimp 2.8.10 stick with it, the main difference between versions is drag-n-drop between images in single window mode now works.

RE: ACK!
HA!

Well, I uninstalled Gimp, re-installed 2.8.14 from the link Rich provided and it was still doing it. Then, thinking "What the hell, Ofnuts may have something there... the easy-way-out obviously ain't working", I wondered if somehow I'd disabled Ctrl-Z in one of my keyboard-bashing fits.

But, when I pulled down Edit to go to Preferences, I noticed Keyboard Shortcuts--I don't remember that from the first time I installed Gimp three years ago or so. So I clicked that instead of Preferences. Anyway, after taking about 15 minutes to figure out what all that stuff was and what I wanted, I got to Edit and under that was a list of stuff I recognized, Ctrl- this and that etc.

But Undo was DISABLED. Strong Undo [Shft-Ctrl-Z] was okay, but plain Undo was disabled.

In the process of changing that I got a notice--or whatever that box is that pops-up when you do something weird--that said something to the effect (or is it Affect, I can never keep them straight, I think it's effect. We'll go with that) something to the Effect that Ctrl-Z was being used by a plug-in, did I want to change that.

Well, change it I did and now it works fine.

So: some plug-in or other I installed must have hijacked Ctrl-Z and now whatever it was won't work right, but I'll cross that shortcut when I get to it.

A lesson lies herein for someone else perhaps: Sometimes stuff you inplug can change other stuff.

I'm a slow learner, I guess, but I'm clean and polite and most of the sores have healed up.

Thanks.

I read that like a z controller LOL, I'm so use to seeing abbreviated keyboard shortcuts. I was like "wtf is a z controller?" haahha
