A question on the path tool.
Hello, Gimp users.

I have a question about the path tool.

I have searched the whole internet trying to find this specific answer, but the only things I get are generic tutorials on the use of the tool.

My question is this:

When I try to use the path tool Path, I see that the tool draws a white, very wide line, from spot to spot.

I have observed, that in previous versions of Gimp, this same tool draws a simple 1 pixel thin black line.

I wonder if is possible to activate an option to display the tool the old way. I would prefer a simple 1 pixel line, to make much precise selections, instead the white wide line we have now in the current versions.

It would make a big difference to me, so If there is a way to do this, please answer.
Thanks in advance.

RE: A question on the path tool.
A path is a path, just the way it is shown. Not much you can do about it when creating a path.

Once the path is made you get a 'line'

It is the nodes that annoy me. Same size whatever zoom.

The answer is no, but the old style wasn't without problems:
  • not very accurate, because the paths is a jagged line
  • no way to distinguish the current path from the others
  • overlapping paths cancel out each other's display

The line in the new style has a width that doesn't change when zooming, so it gets proportionally thinner(*) (0.01 pixel wide at maximum zoom...) and there is no real loss of accuracy. When the Path tools is not used, paths are displayed with a thin line.

All in all, if the new style requires some time to get accustomed to, but it is much better than the old one.

(*) likewise the old-style line becomes proportionally less jagged when zooming in, since the one-pixel rounding at 100% zoom becomes a .004 pixel rounding a 25600% zoom.
