2.8: Input transition
I've switch from 2.6 to 2.8, and for the most part I'm liking it.

However, there is one thing here that is driving me up the wall: the time it takes for GIMP to switch from one input to another.

If I'm using my tablet and I make a mistake and need to undo, after I hit control-Z it takes a moment before I can even see my brush moving around on the screen when I hover my pen near my tablet. This is very frustrating when I am trying to make many quick strokes and movements.

But by far the worst problem is switching from my tablet to my mouse. See, I use my mouse wheel to zoom in and out on my image. It's quick, convenient, and lets me look where I want to see.
But since there is no convenient way for me to adjust my zoom with my tablet, I zoom in on a section with my mouse, do a little bit of work, and then zoom out and move with my mouse and do more work.

But the scroll zoom on the mouse is COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE after I have used my tablet, unless I actually click something in the image or hover the cursor completely off of GIMP. This is extremely frustrating because I try to zoom in or out and nothing happens. And what am I supposed to do to "just get used to it"? I can't just start clicking on my image because I have no idea what tool I last used with the mouse.

This is really something I can't work with. Is there any way to adjust this?

RE: 2.8: Input transition
You know, I'm thinking I don't really even need to have GIMP separate the options and settings used between the mouse and the tablet. And when this has happened accidentally (when I start GIMP without the tablet connected) I don't have this delay between devices.

Is it possible to just disable the way GIMP switches between devices entirely?

RE: 2.8: Input transition
Hmm, so I've noticed that really ANY transition between my tablet and my mouse results in a delay. I will use the mouse and then pick up the tablet, and GIMP will not properly acknowledge when I click on a new tool. Which is really frustrating because the icon clicks or switches to the depressed icon for a moment, just long enough for me to think the command worked.
Which means the system is actually properly recognizing the input I'm giving it, but it then decides to ignore that very input. How frustrating.

The only way I can get GIMP to work in any decent manner is to physically disconnect my tablet before starting GIMP, and then reconnect it once GIMP is running. This tricks the program into thinking that the tablet and the mouse are the same input, so all the tool options and things are shared between them. This is rather annoying and still results in my now being able to use the buttons on my pen properly.

Which reminds me of another problem. I cannot find any option in GIMP to adjust what my mouse does. Had it not inherited the preferences I set in GIMP 2.6 I would have no ability to change the mousewheel to zoom.
What's up with that?

Seriously, how can I be the only one who is having these problems? How is no one else out there seeing this?
