Full Version: How can I do this effect?

Hello, I have encountered several websites with the attached background however I do not know how to do it myself. I did some experiments using the Noise filter to try and get a similar effect but my results where not that good (I tried on white background and nothing appeared, on blue it was better).

Does anyone know how I can achieve this effect (preferably on a white background)?

This is an extremely easy result to create, so here's my re creation of the second design.

What I did is I imported your image, and then filled the canvas with the color #1e1c1d.

I then went to Filters/Noise/HSV Noise and left the settings as default, and I created an image that looks almost identical to the second result.

As for the first image you posted I did the same thing except I filled the canvas with the color #435464.

So for a white background will fill our canvas with a white color #FFFFFF and then go to Filters/Noise/HSV Noise and I then set the settings to.

Holdness: 1
Hue: 0
Saturation: 64
Value: 0

and that's where we see this effect...

I don't advise using a white background though, cause as you can see the result doesn't look to appealing.

No problem! You may wanna checkout The Gimp Cheat Sheet, it may become beneficial for you. Additionally you can checkout my YouTube Channel for Gimp tutorials, just choose the Gimp playlist, and you can hitup my new site GimpPimp for advanced gimp tutorials, and the first tutorial should be coming up in about 3-4 weeks, cause I have a lot of video editing to do.
